Lion's Club Property

To the Citizens of Moultonboro:

I am speaking out against the ‘Phasing Plans’ for the  development of the Lion's Club property. I am personally against building on this land for many reasons. First, as an abutter, I do not want to see the forests on the land disturbed in anyway. The wildlife living there is an amazing sight. Second, this property is located in a rural and agricultural area, and is not where the majority of kids live, who would presumably be the primary users of any field. Third, we now know the full extent of the existing wetlands and the multiple drainage issues, thus, making this project more extensive and thereby more expensive than anyone had planned on.

For those people that voted in Town Meeting ’09 against the soccer field, and voted against the Recreation Center in ‘08, we were making a statement. We did not want to build, especially in a bad economy.

It is as if the Town is trying to find something to do with the Lion's Club land rather than to find the best location for a soccer field, if it is really needed any longer. I have to wonder, why the rush to get this project started as quickly as possible. Who stands to gain from this? I don’t get it.

I urge everyone to write letters to the editor and to the Board of Selectmen let them know your objections to the proposed ‘Phasing Plans’.
